Three Faces

Three Faces Of Health

Ayurveda; a holistic science over 5,000 years old carries a profound body of knowledge for understanding ourselves within the laws of nature. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vital while realizing their full human potential.

According to Ayurveda, each individual and all of nature is comprised of the five fundamental elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. These elements uniquely design each one of us, creating a distinct blueprint known as our Dosha. Thus it follows that what is good for one person isn't good always good for everyone. Knowing your Dosha (body+mind type) can help you determine lifestyle choices, nutrition and skincare products that will benefit you most for optimal wellness and beauty.

There are 3 main Doshas: Vata (Air & Ether) Pitta (Fire & Water) & Kapha (Water & Earth).

What makes life interesting is that although everyone has all three doshas, each of us mixes them together in a unique way, which determines everything about us from our skin type and physical characteristics, to our health and personality traits.

We are "in balance" when we are healthy, happy, and radiantly beautiful, expressing the ration of Kapha, Pitta and Vata elements set in us at birth.

Our skin is the best diagnostic tool to determine this imbalance. Ayurveda suggests that while all skin conditions can seem superficial in nature, the skin is actually a reflection of hidden realities and conditions are far more likely to be the result of a deeper imbalance - making it imperative and logical to treat beyond the symptom, and deeper into the surface of the skin.

This Dosha blueprint is also found in all matter including plants. Essential oils are the 'Prana' or the life force of the plant. Using these life-forces, to identify and treat the underlying cause of skin imbalances is the only way to offer real and sustained results.

OMVED products are developed in synergy with these principles to help you achieve balance and harmony at the individual Dosha level, whilst also nurturing the skin and senses. The best part is, the improvements you'll notice on the surface of your skin are usually the result of a more significant transformation - one that will improve your life in ways that you never imagined skin care could!

Understanding the wind, explains this combination of Air and Ether. Vata types tend to be slim, creative and full of vitality, signifying energy and movement. The dosha that is most likely to fall out of balance, Vata skin can become dry, dull and lack-lustre.Common skin imbalances are: premature aging, dehydration, fine lines and wrinkles.

Fire and Earth combine for a passionate personality and determined soul. Pitta types tend to be medium build, ambitious, quick-witted and intelligent. Pitta skin tends to be sensitive or combination with congestion in the t-zone. Common skin imbalances are: breakouts, redness, inflammation and rosacea.

Water and Earth energies dominate in these calm, sweet and loyal souls. Kapha types tend to be medium to larger build with skin that is often smooth, oily and cool with larger pores. When out of balance, they can become slow and sluggish, tending towards being overweight. Skin as a result can lead to blocked pores and excessive oil. Common skin imbalances are: cystic acne around the mouth, excessive oiliness and blackheads.

While all three doshas are always present, generally one or two dominate the constitution, and occasionally a person will be tri-doshic (all three doshas in equal proportion).
