It is that time of the year when your skin and hair need more care, especially if you have dry skin. It is normal for your skin to get dry in the winters because there is a lack of moisture in the air. If you noticed, winters is a season where one is most susceptible to a cough, cold or the common flu because the body is not adequately hydrated. Apart from health, it is important to have a proper skin and hair care regime so that your skin and hair stay hydrated and moisturized all through this dry and cold season. It is important that you use the right products in this season so that you skin and hair is taken care of. We have listed a few must-haves from Omved that you must own this winter to keep your body and skin hydrated and moisturized.

Hair Oils – Yes, the cold weather affects your hair, even if you have kept it wrapped under a scarf or a beret. Choose an ayurvedic hair oil according to your hair type to nourish your tresses. You need to oil your hair at least once in a week to keep them nourished, if you have the time, you can massage the hair more than once a week as well. The right way to apply the oil would be to warm it up a bit in a copper vessel and apply it from the roots to the tips. Use gentle strokes to massage the scalp and promote blood circulation. Wrap your head in a hot towel to let the oils soak in completely if you are washing our hair within an hour or two of application. The best option would be to let the oil stay in overnight so that your hair gets maximum nourishment.

Body Oils -In the winter the lack of humidity and the presence of cold air can leave the skin dry, flaky and itchy. It is important to keep it hydrated and nourished. Body oils are smooth and thick concentrated liquids that are usually clear in colour. Opt for an organic body oil that is free from chemicals and is made from the extracts of roots, flowers and leaves. Body oils tend to get applied evenly and they get absorbed into the skin quickly leaving it soft and supple. It is a misconception that body oils will leave the skin feeling oily and greasy. You need less than quarter a teaspoon of the body oil that you can apply on your skin to keep it hydrated and moisturized.

Intensive Moisturizing Cream – If you are not a fan of body oils, and yet need something to keep your skin hydrated this season, opt for the Intense Moisturizing Cream. This is a non greasy formula that gets absorbed into your skin quickly to leave it soft, supple and hydrated. It works perfectly on the extra dry areas like the elbows and knees and keeps it soft and hydrated. You can also apply this overnight to let the pure sesame oils from the cream penetrate deep into your skin to provide the right nourishment. This is a perfect solution if you have winter damaged skin that leads to flakiness and itching.

Foot Oil – It is very common to ignore the feet all round the year. You need to pamper your feet too because they bear the brunt of carrying our weight all around the year. There is nothing more relaxing than dipping your feet in a bucket of hot water with some essential oils to promote relaxation. It is important to keep yyour feet hydrated not just in the winters but all around the year to ensure that it does not develop dead skin and cracks. Omved’s foot massage oil is a blend of Valerian, Ashwagandha and Vetiver that not just provide nourishment to the feet but also keep it soft and hydrated. Take a small amount of the oil and massage on the feet at night before you sleep. Wear socks to keep the linen from staining and you will be amazed at how soft your feet will be with regular usage.

These are some of the must have’s that we recommend in your skin care regime. Don’t forget other basic accessories like a lip balm that will keep your lips moisturized and free from chapping. It is also important to keep yourself hydrated and consume at least 4 litres of water to ensure your body gets the right amount of hydration. When your body is not hydrated, you are more susceptible to infections that can bring you down.
