Keep cool this summer


The summer heat is known to sap out your energy levels. Our body takes time to adjust to the scorching heat and sometimes it can give rise to various health issues as well ranging from a weak stomach to headaches and more. It is not just the body, but also your skin that faces various issues like acne and breakouts with the increase in the temperature levels. While there is not much that you can do about the heat outside, there are lots of ways that can help you reduce the body heat. These simple and natural methods are your best bet to reduce ways in which you can cool down your body. We have listed 7 ways that will help you reduce the intensity of the body heat.

Drink water

The basic one, which has been oft repeated is that you need to drink a minimum of 8 – 10 glasses of water to keep yourself hydrated!  Drinking adequate water ill also ensure that you do not feel exhausted from the heat.

Eat fruits rich in water content

Yes, mangoes are the fruits to eat in summers, but you also have watermelons that should be a must eat in the summers. Opt for a slice or two of a red juicy melon to get an extra dose of fiber and an adequate supply of Vitamins A and C into your diet. Looking for a quick relief from the tan? Crush some melon with the juice of half a lemon and apply to your face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash off with cold water and a soap free moisturiser.


Cardamom is a spice that is known for its cooling effects. Al that you need to do is boil two pods of cardamom in one litre water. Sieve it and cool the water. Store in preferably in a glass jug and drink at regular intervals to reduce the body heat.

Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek seeds have long been recommended to counter and reduce the intensity of your body heat.  Soak a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water overnight and drink the water in the morning. Don’t throw away the soaked seeds! Crush it in a blender and use is as a cooling hair mask.

Say no to spices

Spices have always been used to add that extra heat to a recipe. In order to bring down body heat it is important to eat food that is very low on spice levels. Add lots of fruit and vegetable salads to your meals. Eat clean food. It is good for your digestive system as well. Add a lot of leafy vegetables to your diet and eat fruits and vegetables high in water content. Cut down on consumption of sour foods and nuts.

Drink tender coconut water

Tender coconut water is rich in vitamins and minerals and it helps in reducing the effects of not just body heat but also dehydration. The good part? You don’t really add any calories with the drink! So drink one every day to keep yourself fit and cool. 

Do some yoga

Yoga, in particular pranayama has asanas that are called Sheetali and Sheetakari pranayama. Practising these asanas regularly can help you reduce the body temperature to a very great extent. The asana involves  inhaling cool breath through the mouth and exhaling through the nose. The pranayama helps cool down the body and also alleviates stress.

These simple remedies are good enough to reduce the intensity of the body heat and keep your cool this summer.
