In the colder climates it is easy to lose approximately one to two litres of water because of the rapid evaporation from the lungs. It is important to consume more water because the body needs to work harder to humidify the air around us and keep it warm. So if your work involves staying outdoors, especially in the winters, ensure that you need to drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated.
So how do you best avoid the effects of dehydration this winter? There are lots of ways that you can ensure complete hydration during the winters. We’ve listed a few tips that you can follow and keep dehydration at bay not just in winters, but all year around.
Drink water when you wake up
Post the long sleep at night, our body is dehydrated. So ensure that you drink at least two glasses of water when you wake up. Keep a bottle of water next to your bed so that you can see it as soon as you wake up and drink some water.
Include water content in your diet
There is nothing more healing that sipping on a bowl of hot soup in the winters. Wouldn’t you agree? So include some warming teas and soups in your diet that will not just be nutritious, but will also provide your body hydration. If you like to eat salads, include water rich fruits and vegetables like melons in your diet so that your body gets the required hydration and nutrition.
You need to keep your body hydrated through water and ensure you get some skin food too! So ensure that you moisturise your skin well so that your body does not dry out. Keep a small bottle of lotion handy with you all the time and reapply as and when required.

Right food to eat

It also doubles up as an antioxidant and protects your cells from damage. Add a few strands of saffron to a glass of warm milk to boost immunity and regulate your body temperature. Include nuts in your diet because they are rich in natural oils and vitamins.
Remember that in the winters your body cannot recognize dehydration because you do not sweat. With dehydrations come a plethora of complications like fatigue, exhaustion, cramps and even a loss of co-ordination. A dehydrated body can also leave you more susceptible to common colds and flu, both of which are prevalent in the winter.
