Cumin, Coriander & Fennel Tea


With the winters setting in it is common for one to feel dehydrated because you consume less fluids all through the day. Not to mention the fast paced life that we have and we are so focussed on accomplishing tasks and other chores through the day that we forget to take care of ourselves.

Did you know that drinking the right amount of fluids can hydrate our cells and keep our body and brains feeling alert and energized through the day?

One such drink that is a must for winters is the CCF tea. CCF stands for Cumin, Coriander and Fennel. You need to use these spices to make a refreshing detox drink that not just helps to balance all the doshas, but each spice is known to have healing properties for you. This detox drink has loads of advantages, it keeps you off caffeine, keeps you hydrated, works well to keep your digestive health intact and also helps to get rid of the toxins from your body.

In addition, these three spices are packed with loads of benefits as well:

  • Cumin Seeds – This is one of the spices that is used in most Indian cuisine because it promotes a better digestive health. It also helps to cleanse and detox the body of toxins. Including the spice in your diet can help to keep indigestion and cramps at bay. It also helps to reduce gas and absorbs minterals from the intestines thus eliminating toxins from your body.
  • Coriander Seeds – This spice is known to help balance the three doshas and it has a cooling effect on the body because it helps to reduce the heat and acidic levels in the stomach. It is also an excellent spice that helps to reduce congestion and eases joint pains.
  • Fennel Seeds – This spice is often eaten at the end of a meal to support digestion. It helps to calm the mind and aids in a healthy menstrual flow as well.

Getting the ingredients ready

Take equal quantities of the seeds and dry roast them till they are fragrant. Roast each of the seeds seperately. Store this in an airtight container.

Making the CCF tea

Boil two cups of water for 5 minutes and add one tablespoon of the mixed seeds in the boiling water and continue to simmer for 5 minutes. Take it off the flame and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain and store this in a flask.

Take 5- 6 sips of this water every 30 minutes all through the day. It will help to increase the energy levels and keep you feeling more focused and motivated. And if you are lucky enough, with a bit of exercise and the ccf team you may end up losing a bit of weight too! A word of caution is to consume the water the same day and not keep it overnight.

Benefits of CCF tea include balancing the three doshas, restoring vitality, calming the mind and destressing a tired you. When consumed regularly it helps to cleanse the urinary tract and enhance metabolism.
