Boost your immune system


The season is about to change and most of us are likely to succumb to the dreaded flu or a cough and cold which is so common an ailment when the weather changes. We live in a fast paced world and with the stress and workaholics that we are, most of the times we are blissfully unaware of the fact that our body is at its lowest in the immunity level. A low immunity directly relates to issues like falling ill often, lack of interest, constant fatigue and a feeling of being tired.

The good part is that we all can work towards bettering our immunity and all that we need to do is follow simple steps and habits that can make us not just healthy but also ensure an immune body.

Stress Less

Stress to a large extent is a part of our hectic lives and is unavoidable. Those who suffer from chronic stress are more prone and vulnerable to illness and infections. When the body is exposed to stress continuously it can lead to suppressing the immune system. The solution is to spend a few minutes in a day to focus on letting go of things that can upset you or stress you out. Indulge in a bit of aromatherapy or meditation to let go of your stress.  

Exercise More

Does your desk job leave you with no time for yourself? Leading a sedentary lifestyle can reduce your immune system’s efficiency. Indulge in some movements through the day not only stimulates the lymphatic system but also increases oxygenation and the leukocytes levels that play a major role in upping the immune system and helping you fight against common infections. Walk up floors, go for a walk or a jog, do some stretching exercises and you are ready to keep your body healthy and fit.

Sleep Well

Fatigue increases your susceptibility to illness. When you do not get adequate rest the number of antibodies in your system is low. Insomnia is like stress, it reduces your immunity levels when you are deprived of sleep constantly. Ensure that you clock in at least 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep in the nights to increase the immunity levels. Indulge in a foot soak with relaxing salts or a foot massage, or drink a glass of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg powder to relax and promote good sleep. Use aromatherapy around your spaces to create a feeling of relaxation and comfort.  

Eat right

Incorporate fruits and vegetables that will help to flush out the toxins from your body and boost your immune system. Veggies like broccoli and cabbage are known to support the liver’s ability and immune function by boosting its ability. These vegetables help to flush out toxins and keep the liver functioning well. Similarly adding fruits slices of lemon, ginger and oranges in a jug of water will not only make water interesting to drink, but will also cleanse your body from the toxins and also keep you hydrated.
