Eating a breakfast that is cooked in accordance to the Ayurvedic principles will leave you energetic throughout the day, leaving you more productive at work. The Ayurveda Power Breakfast helps Agni , the metabolic energy in our body to assimilate nutrients, eliminate toxins, generate warmth and transform physical matter into energy that our body needs.
Since agni is at its lowest early in the morning, between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m., it is advisable not to opt for a heavy breakfast because your body will not be able to digest it. Ayurvedic practitioners insist that one must have an easily digestible meal that nourishes the body by giving it the energy it requires.
Picture this: Your body is and its metabolism is like a wood-burning furnace. A wood furnace needs careful tending so that it keeps the home warm and not hot. Similarly your body needs just adequate food that will rekindle the flame to support you through the day. There are chances of some warm embers being left over from the previous night and all you need to do is gently rekindle the flame not throw in lots of fuel.
If your agni is healthy, you are bound to have tremendous energy all through the day and if is not, you’ll be overcome with fatigue and lethargy. Avoid eating food like a sweet pastry; instead opt for warm well-spiced and easy-to-digest foods. Idli –sambar, poha and upma are some easy to digest foods that should be eaten for a breakfast.
Eating the spices
Sweet foods, like eating a pastry do not provide adequate energy. These foods are of very low quality, because they provide the energy rush for just a while and it is not long lasting. Drinking a glass of cold milk with sugar is good enough to douse the digestive fires and is not recommended at all. When you eat a balanced warm morning meal, it stokes the agni and makes it stronger. A stronger agni means more energy that will last all through the day. Eat a warm meal that consists of spices because it will increase your metabolism. It is a known fact that warming spices stoke the agni and make it stronger. Examples of warming spice are black peppercorns, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, fresh ginger, green chillies, nutmeg, basil, rock salt and turmeric. Adjust the spices according to the dominant doshas (life energy) in your prakriti (constitution).
