5 resolutions for emotional wellbeing

Don’t you all make resolutions at the start of every year?  You make some, you break some. This year make a choice to do things that are not just simple and easy to follow, but also good for your emotional well-being. Whether it is a day to catch up with family or a day to go internet free, no matter what you decide, follow it.

So are you ready to make this year one of the best years so far? Here is how you can celebrate this year differently!

Challenge yourself

Have you ever thought of learning something new that can make you meet new challenges? Make a list of things you want to learn or do, push yourself to the limits you can endure and tick off things you accomplish. When you learn new things, you are letting yourself explore new avenues, building up new skills and improving your self-confidence.

Connect with others

Maintaining relationships is something most of us forget with the hectic schedules we keep. Set aside time to develop and maintain relationship. Your family and friends are the ones who will enrich your life and promote an emotional well-being.

Time out please

Take out time to enjoy. Whether it is reading a book, listening to music, going for a walk, indulging in yoga, practising meditation, learning a new activity or just spending some ME time.  Do what you love to do NOW.

Take care of yourself

Has this ever figured in your list of resolutions as yet? No? Then it’s time that it does figure in your list of priorities. Eat healthy food and indulge in exercises that are good for you. You don’t need to visit a gym to exercise. Set a routine and follow it. Go for a walk at least four times a week. Walk up the stairs once a day, meditate and sleep well. These actions may seem small, but they contribute towards a better health over a period of time.

Live in the moment

Live in the moment to enjoy the present. Take time out to be in synch with your senses for a few minutes in day. Concentrate on your breathing, watch the sunrise, feel the rays of sun on your face and the wind blowing in your hair. Make a conscious effort to thank everything as a prayer once a day. Practise gratitude. When you make a conscious effort to be aware of your inner self and the outer world, it improves you as a person.

Take rest

There is nothing as awesome as feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Get plenty of sleep and if you can, set a time that you will go to bed and have at least 6 – 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. A good sleep restores your mind and your body.  Indulge in some aromatherapy that will help you unwind or get a massage done regularly to relax the tired muscles.

This year make a conscious effort to follow things that are probably a part of your life, but you just don’t get around doing them as often as you would like to. Like making the choice to go internet free once a week! It isn’t as impossible as you think! Try it once and you’ll feel the difference it has made in your life.
