Are you done with listing the resolutions for the year? Are you planning to make a few green resolutions, but aren’t sure where to begin? Worry not, we’ve listed five simple and easy ways for you to get started. We’ve listed five ways to get started and we are sure that there are more! Let us start with the most do-able things!
Resolution #1: Don’t waste food
This is one of the easiest ways to go green! Have you ever had a look at the edible food that you may have wasted? Those food packets with the expiry dates or the over stocking of food is not a good idea. Buy what you want and most importantly, buy what you need. Cook as much food as is required, and if you end up having excess food, offer it to the guests to take it back home or give it to the needy.
Resolution #2: Do-It-Yourself
If you sat down to make a list of all the things you can make at home, trust me you will be amazed! You can make some amazing concoctions for cleaning your homes or just some DIY recipes for awesome looking skin.
You can grow a mini kitchen and use the fresh veggies to cook the food. Not only are these options easy, but are absolutely cost effective too. And the best part, you know what’s in it and the products are likely to be free from chemicals and toxins.
Resolution #3: Reduce your carbon footprint
Go paperless, don’t opt for paper statements. Use old clothes to make dust cloths or wash cloths. Limit the water consumption. Use LED lighting to save electricity. Opt for a car pool. Walk for errands and chores if the distance is short. Make a to-do list and complete all chores at pne go so that you don’t need to take the car out again, wasting petrol and adding to the pollution. Make cleaning products at home. Opt for chemical free products. There are so many things that you can do reduce your carbon footprint.
Resolution #4: Reuse
Remember one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure. Reuse what you can and give away what you can’t. Donate old clothing and excess supplies to someone who needs it. Have you ever thought of using less? It makes sense to buy things that you can reuse – mop, towels, cutlery, the list is endless!
Resolution #5: Opt for local produce
Give the local farmers a chance. Instead of heading to a supermarket to stock on the veggies and fruits, keep a look out for local farmer markets or market yards that sell fresh fruits and veggies at less than half the cost. Not only are you saving money, but also encouraging the farmers by buying what they have grown.
These five resolutions are not just easy to follow but are also very do-able. All that you need to keep in mind is that you will stick to it, because by following these simple steps you are working towards making the planet a cleaner and a greener place to live!
