Vastu shastra the spiritual, scientific design system from India's Vedic tradition is the most ancient and complete system of design according to the solar, lunar and planetary influences on the earth with reference to north and south poles and the equator connecting individual consciousness with cosmic consciousness.

Proportion, dimensions placements and positioning are determined by the rules of Vastu Vidya, to create the peace and stability we need for greater success and joy in life. Vastu is perfect for conscious lifestyles in alignment with nature. There are many principles in Vaastu Shastra.

Energy sources in Vastu

Sun and Earth are the only heavenly bodies taken into consideration in the principles and rules of Vastu as far as sources of vastu energy are concerned. Thus the five natural energy sources of ‘vastu’ energy are:

  • Gravitational energy (water)
  • Geomagnetic energy (earth)
  • Solar energy (fire)
  • Wind energy (air)
  • Cosmic radiation (space)

Vastu shastra dictates that these energies (and smaller energies like lunar energy from the moon, thermal energy, electric energy, light energy, etc) can be balanced by arranging our man-made environments so that we are in alignment with these forces of nature, to enhance peace, prosperity and success. The east is the source of solar, ultra-violet rays, and the north is the source of magnetic energy. We benefit by keeping our environment open to these life supporting energies. The harmful infrared rays, which come from the south, and the destructive gamma rays, coming from the west, cause disruption within the environment and our bodies. Using the principles of Vastu Shastra, we should protect ourselves from these rays.

According to Vaastu Shastra, energy lines run like a large grid across the Earth, from North to South and from East to West. The electromagnetic field thus generated, affects the human body at the cellular level and controls the organs of the human body. It is believed that when a structure is placed on Earth, the equilibrium is affected because it breaks the electro-magnetic field grid. Hence this needs to be restored so that the energy flows harmoniously.

"...If a part of free space is isolated and confined into a four walled structure called a building, it becomes a living organism and the space enclosed will start vibrating in a particular order. If such a building is designed to vibrate in the same numerical order as that of the indweller, the resultant phenomenon is that he will experience harmony or perfect union with the Universal Self..."
