Aromatherapy is the art and science of using fragrant, concentrated oils from parts of plants—such as their flowers, fruit, stalks, roots, and bark—for the purpose of improving a person's physical and emotional well-being. It is a natural, healing modality employing essential oils extracted from aromatic plant sources to treat and balance the body, mind and spirit and to beautify, purify, rejuvenate, and enhance wellbeing.
Aromatherapy existed millenia ago; right from the day people started using herbs and oils The Vedic sages burned aromatic woods, herbs, and spices so that the fragrances would rise up to the heavens carrying their prayers to the gods. They would burn barks to drive out evil spirits from their sick people, combining fragrance with religion, mystique, and magic
The bioactive energy of scent and the nose's ability to absorb it for therapeutic benefits are proven by the efficacy of aromatherapy, which has been used for millennia to cure disease. The ancient science of Ayurveda has an age-old history of the use of a lot of herbs and oils that it became the base on which the medicinal system was built. Ayurvedic physicians understood that smell can have a huge impact on the brain and thereby, the other functions of the body, and thus along with physical intake, they used aromatherapy as a supplementary form of Ayurvedic treatment.
Omved places special emphasis on Aromatherapy. The rasa or essential oil of a plant is the most concentrated, healing component and contains many medicinal properties. Even though essential oils have been used for thousands of years, they have only recently returned to general awareness.
Ayurveda aspires to bring the person back to its normal natural state, by facilitating healing from inside, essential oils further this object of Ayurveda by using the pure essence of herbs and plants.
These Rasa or essences are distillations of plants that contain healing energies that target specific emotional states of being. They help our physiologies come into balance on both a physical and energetic level by working on emotional states of being.
Through the vibrational resonance of each plant, our physiology is reminded of the perfect nature it has lost and can work to heal itself on an emotional level which then affects the physical level.
